Areas Botox Can Treat
Cosmetic Botox is used most often on three upper-face areas where movement creates lines: the forehead, the frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet. Here’s what each involves.

- 2Frown lines — the vertical “11s” between the brows (glabella)
- 3Crow’s feet — the lines that fan out beside the eyes
The three most-treated areas
Forehead lines
The horizontal lines that appear across the forehead when you raise your eyebrows, created by the frontalis muscle. Providers treat this area conservatively and often in balance with the frown-line muscles, because relaxing the forehead alone can affect how the brows sit. Dosing is individualized to your muscle strength.
Frown lines (the “11s”)
The vertical lines between the eyebrows — the glabellar lines — from the muscles you use to frown or concentrate. This is one of the most commonly treated areas, and BOTOX Cosmetic is FDA-approved for it; the label describes a total around 20 units, which providers adjust per person.
Crow’s feet
The lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes when you smile or squint, from the muscle that circles the eye. BOTOX Cosmetic is FDA-approved for these lateral canthal lines; the label describes about 24 units total, split between the two sides.

A note on units: the figures above are the FDA label’s general starting points, not a prescription. A skilled injector individualizes the dose to your anatomy and goals — which is why unit counts, and therefore cost, vary from person to person. Other areas you may hear about
Beyond the classic three, providers use botulinum toxin for other purposes — for example a “lip flip,” softening a downturned mouth, or relaxing the masseter (jaw) muscle for jaw slimming or teeth-grinding. These uses vary in how well they’re studied and whether they’re on-label, so they’re best discussed one-on-one with a qualified provider. Express Med Spa Frankfort, our featured provider, lists masseter Botox among its services.
